replenished.

The path of least resistance.
Here's what I now know.... to create positive change, you want to create positive. Your thoughts, your language, your choices - they all matter.  GREATLY.  Why?  They influence the pathways in your brain. Negative = resistance. Positive = momentum.

Consider the word "willpower" for a moment. Literally - to exert power through force of will. Now consider the opposite. Ask yourself what you truly desire. Trust your instincts. Know you are capable of small, consistent steps that lead to positive, long-term habits. Be open to growth. Give yourself grace.

Willpower isn't elusive due to lack of motivation. It is elusive because the approach itself creates resistance.

I used to define health as a healthy weight. Until I was skinny, sick and stressed. Now, I define health beyond the physically obvious - as a rich, full, grounded life. With hobbies, relaxation and fun... meaningful relationships and work... peace, calm, gratitude and joy.  And yes - good nutrition, movement, hydration and sleep. Ironically, this definition of health, is also the path to health.

For 27 years, I banged my head against the willpower wall. I watched clients do the same. Trying really hard.  And now... I finally get it!!!  Creating health, is about your WAY, not your "why."  Let me say it again. Slowly. Clearly. In bold. Creating health, is about your WAY, not your "why."  The way you teach your brain to travel.

Yes, your "why" is important. It helps explore greater meaning and purpose. And your goals, they offer a map, to where you want your habits to lead - so you know which micro-habits to create. But the WAY in which you go about it - negatively or positively, with force or grace, perfection or flexibility, chaos or calm - determines whether your efforts will be met, with RESISTANCE, or with MOMENTUM!  (Insert mic-drop.)

My approach as a coach.
  1. Come from a place of positive.
  2. Look at whole life, paint a picture, know where you are headed.
  3. Trust what habits you are most ready to create.
  4. Take small, consistent daily steps.
  5. Celebrate every win.
I have never experienced a completely shame-free zone from any other wellness coach, dietitian, physician, personal trainer or natural health practitioner... this matters more than anything else. Though I'm also in love with the whole program and products.  -Hope S.
